The message of Dr. Bahman Namvar Motlagh

Metropolitans, which are the perfect manifestation of man’s thoughts and ideas of cultures, are one of the greatest achievements of human beings. The origin of civilization dates back to the rapid growth of cities and history of cities has developed parallel to the history of civility. However, the passage of time has not mitigated its significance but rather elevated its importance in human life.

Today, more than any time, cities play a pivotal role in human life. Considering that cities are a manifestation of the imaginations and ideas of their citizens, each city possess a unique identity.

Possessing culturally distinct features, Isfahan has flourished as a unique city with all of the peculiarities distinguishing it from other cities. Due to its culturally rich identity, unique handicrafts, and its beautiful historical attractions, it never fails to enchant its visitors. This led to the Persian proverb "Esfahān nesf-e- jahān ast" (Isfahan is half of the world). The history of handicrafts in this city can be traced to the ancient times. It is so interwoven in the identity of this city that it is difficult to imagine one without the other. This unique feature has attracted the attention of the World Craft Council and UNESCO, so that Isfahan has received the title of the “World City of handicrafts” and the “creative city of handicrafts.”

Now, Isfahan is going to host one of the greatest events in the world of handicrafts, namely the 18th general assembly of the World Crafts Council. We hope that Iran, particularly the city of Isfahan, can play perfect host to the guests and members of WCC from across the world.

Bahman Namvar Motlagh
